The accuracy of the new infrared spectrometer in testing traditional Chinese medicine can reach 99%

according to Hong Kong Wen Wei Po, the scientific research team led by Dr. zhangxiaoming, associate professor of computer science department of Hong Kong Baptist University, has successfully developed a detection system based on the characteristics of infrared spectrum. It can detect the authenticity of traditional Chinese medicine in just a few minutes, with an accuracy of 99%. It can also detect the variety and origin of traditional Chinese medicine, with an accuracy of 94%, and a lower cost. At present, its core infrared spectrum feature extraction technology has been granted an invention patent by the State Intellectual Property Office of China

Dr. Zhang Xiaoming's infrared spectrum feature extraction technology has obtained the patent right

with the internationalization of traditional Chinese medicine, which can be shaped and processed by the processing method of thermoplastic engineering plastics, the quality identification of traditional Chinese medicine plays an important role in ensuring the efficacy and safety of traditional Chinese medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine material inspection was carried out in Qujing branch of Yunnan Chihong Zinc and Germanium Co., Ltd. there are roughly two methods. The first is to observe the shape, color, smell, size and other characteristics of medicinal materials, which requires experienced inspectors to perform, but sometimes there are human errors. Another method is to use physical and chemical analysis and detection to accurately analyze the proportion of a specific component in the medicinal materials?, However, it needs complex physical and chemical processes, and the analysis time is long and the cost is high

therefore, Dr. Zhang studied the use of infrared spectrometer to scan traditional Chinese medicine, and use the scanned infrared spectrum fingerprint to interpret the macro data of the chemical composition of traditional Chinese medicine, so as to quickly distinguish the variety, origin and growth mode of the traditional Chinese medicine, and obtain the information of the authenticity and macro quality of the traditional Chinese medicine. Users only need to scan the medicinal materials with instruments and log in to the database for comparison. It takes only a few minutes to know the variety and origin of medicinal materials, with an accuracy of 94%, while the accuracy of medicinal materials is as high as 99%. Users can quickly distinguish the authenticity

Dr. Zhang said, "the quality of traditional Chinese medicine depends on its chemical components and the proportion of each component, which is closely related to its origin and growth mode. By finding out the true origin and growth mode of traditional Chinese medicine, we can macroscopically provide a film smoothness for the quality identification of traditional Chinese Medicine. It is important to add a smooth agent to complete a fast and simple method." Dr. Zhang predicted that the system could provide a low-cost and simple detection way for traditional Chinese medicine factories, food safety centers or government departments, which would help ensure the quality of traditional Chinese medicine. However, due to the limited samples, the system can only detect ginseng, Gastrodia elata, Salvia miltiorrhiza and Yinyanghuo. However, it is expensive to use it to carry out tensile, zigzag, compression and shear experiments. If enough samples are collected to make a database, the cost will be extremely huge. However, the Baptist conference cooperates with private companies and the government to expand the database samples

finally, Dr. Zhang said that in the future, the system can not only detect the varieties and macro quality of traditional Chinese medicine, but also be developed and applied to the detection of food and alcohol in the future, such as distinguishing the authenticity of milk powder and the quality of red wine

the detection system can quickly distinguish the variety, origin and growth mode of traditional Chinese medicine
